Bu Hor is her nickname, she lives alone in one of temporary housing units for scavengers in Kampung Pemulung in Suwung Landfill. Her husband has passed away. They have 2 children (1 male & 1 female), both are married and currently reside in Probolinggo, East Java with their
respective families. Their children work as farmers, and are living in poverty. Bu Hor goes back home to Java usually once a year during Idul Fitri. She has no other family in the Suwung Landfill.
Source of Income: Bu Hor works as a scavenger in the Suwung Landfill. Every day (if she is healthy) she sorts the trash starting from 5 am until 6 pm. The items she scavenges is collected and weighed to be sold every 2 weeks, the money she makes off of selling the items amount to Rp.
700.000 – 1.000.000 every 2 weeks.
Living Conditions: She lives in a temporary housing unit provided by her boss free of charge, Bu Hor only needs to pay for electricity.

The place where she works is a landfill, and her living quarters are not too far from the garbage, it is not a clean or healthy environment. The strong stench of garbage, contaminated well water, and the unsanitary temporary housing units are a common site in the Suwung Landfill.
