I Komang Gede and his wife have 4 daughters:

  1. Ni Wayan Budiani (5th class Primary School)
  2. Ni Kadek Darmi (4th Class Primary School)
  3. Ni Komang Juniasih (aged 3)
  4. Ni Ketut Widiari (aged one and a half))

The state of their dwelling: the floor and walls are made of compacted earth, the roof is asbestos cement sheeting. There is only one room and the kitchen and the sleeping area share that space. There are two beds: the eldest and the second eldest children sleep in one bed, the wife sleeps on the second bed with the two younger children and the husband sleeps on the floor in front of the fireplace. This family received mattresses from a donor however they are not used as they do not fit the bedframes that the family have. There is no electricity and no running water.

Source of income: I Komang Gede works as a casual labourer doing whatever work is available – carting wood or carting coconuts, etc. He receives 40,000 Rupiah per day and works about 14 days in a month. His wife works occasionally as a labourer carting coconuts however is more often at home looking after the smaller children. The eldest and the second eldest children walk one and a half kilometres to school every day.

You could support this family by providing them with their basic daily necessities, by providing bicycles for the children to go to school, by giving money so that the family can buy their own daily needs, by donating funds for the children’s school fees, by helping them buy a cow or pigs or giving money for them to improve their house.
