Nengah Sulandra and his wife have two children:

  1. First Child: Luh Sintia Devi (Female / 12 years old / 6th Grade Elementary)
  2. Second Child: Kadek Intan Sari (Female /6 years old / not in school yet)

The children’s school is located around 1.5 km from their home, the children go to school on foot.

Nengah Sulandra had an appendectomy, lately he’s experienced frequent pain in the part of his stomach that was operated on. Because of his condition, Nengah Sulandra is unable to do hard labour.

Source of Income:

  • Nengah Sulandra and his wife work as farmers on government owned land, their income is inconsistent, only available when there is a harvest. They farm on rainfed soil, they typically plant corn or nuts during the rainy season, during the dry season the soil cannot be used. In one year there is only one harvest.
  • To get more income, they also take care of 4 cows belongs to their neighbors and 1 pig.

Living Expenses:

  • School tuition is free. Once a year they need to pay for uniforms and books or whenever it’s needed.
  • Daily allowance for the children: Rp. 3.000 per day

House Conditions:

  • Bedroom: 1, the roof is leaking, when it is raining they sleep in the terrace
  • Bed divan: none
  • Mattress: 1, already thin
  • Other rooms: kitchen
  • Floor made from cement
  • Walls made from woven bamboo
  • Roof made from asbestos and spandex
  • Electricity: yes available
  • No water, they ask for water from their neighbor
  • Land ownership status: owned by someone else, the family rents the land

Nengah Sulandra’s family has moved because the land previously they occupied has been sold by the land owner. Now they live in their parents’ house. Here are some of the documentation of their house now.
