Ni Gelis lived in a hut with her mentally-retarded daughters, while her husband had passed away. The hut where Ni Gelis lived can only be accessed by walking for about 800 meters passing ricefields, with neither electricity nor clean water from state water company. Fortunately, the location of her hut was close with the irigation system.
Ni Gelis made living from selling Porosan/Canang (parts of Hindu’s praying equipment using palm leaves), with income at approximately 3 thousand rupiahs per day, which was surely far from enough to fulfill their daily needs. Their house condition was miserable; there was only 1 bed in the room without wall/door.
