About Students:
- Most students come from Denpasar and its surroundings.
- They do not attend formal schools for various reasons such as; with special needs, expelled from formal school due to behavior / delinquency / inability to attend school lessons, bullied at school etc.
- Most children with special needs such as; down syndrome, hyperactive, hyper sensitive, autism, deaf etc.
- Students pay SPP Rp. 100,000 – 300,000 per month depend on the ability of parents to pay, some of them could not pay tuition fees.
School Conditions:
- The school looks “messy”, not well maintained
- There are several classrooms that are quite hot, need a fan and curtains for glass windows
- Teaching and learning facilities: learning tables and chairs are lacking, many have been damaged
- School building: rent / contract Rp. 70 million per year (still delinquent rent)
School Fees: all payments for school operational fees are delayed/in crisis.
- Teacher’s salary; currently the payment is delayed by 2 months
- School operational costs; electricity, water, stationary, etc.
- Building rent is still in arrears for more than 1 year
- Kitchen costs for volunteer meals and some students who sometimes also ask for food at the school
Source of Financing: there is only 1 source of income, namely student tuition fees, and even then not all students are able to pay tuition fees every month because some students come from underprivileged families.
Help needed:
- Funding for school operational costs as mentioned above
- Learning and teaching facilities; study tables and chairs, fans, curtains, whiteboards and erasers, bookshelves
- Stationery, books for students and offices
- Student school supplies; bags, shoes, uniforms
- Transportation when students have activities outside of school such as swimming lessons and so on.
