    Ni Nengah Kari lives alone \u2013 her husband is deceased. They had 4 children but 3 are also deceased. Their remaining daughter is married and lives in Sawan Buleleng, however she never comes to visit her mother.<\/p>\n

    Ni Nengah Kari lives in the corner of the compound of a relative where she lives in a small shelter with only enough room for a bed. The shelter is open and has no walls. She keeps the goods that she collects in front of the shelter<\/p>\n

    \u201cI work collecting used goods. When I have collected a lot, I sell them. I can get 15,000 Rupiah a month\u201d she said in Balinese. We asked her 3 times if that amount was and she answered the same each time: 15,000 Rupiah a month. \u201cIf I don\u2019t get enough to buy food, then I eat whatever I can. I have never asked for food from my relatives here\u201d, he said pointing to a family member.<\/p>\n
