On Friday, January 4, 2013, we visited an infertile hilly ground precisely located at Banjar Gulinten, Bunutan Village, Abang District, Karangasem. Our main purpose is to visit Ni Komang Sukrayani (P/4), from poor family who suffers from cleft lip. We’ve received the information about Ni Komang Sukrayani’s condition from Bali Post Thursday edition, October 18, 2012. Ni Komang Sukrayani is a daughter of I Wayan Wija (30) and Ni Nengah Ngara (28), who also suffers from cleft lip since they were born, in her fourth year, she still can’t speak any single word.
I Wayan Wija worked as construction worker, while his wife takes care of their child while working on the infertile field, which can only grow plants once a year during rainy season.
When we visited them on January 4, the condition of Ni Komang Sukrayani is much better. Yayasan Senyum has helped her to run cleft lip surgery in Public Hospital (RSU) Dharma Yadnya Denpasar on October 23, 2012. Now she can pronounce some words clearly.
