Ni Ketut Krisin lives alone in her house and never married. To fulfill her daily needs, she works as a casual labourer: “if someone needs water – I get water from the well. I get 2000 Rupiah for each jerrycan (about 20 litres). I do any kind of casual work – if there is no work, then I don’t get paid – I eat whatever I can and sometimes I ask my neighbor for some food” she said in Balinese.

The condition of her house: a part of the floor is compacted earth and a part is concrete, the walls are of woven bamboo, the roof is tiled. The house is very small measuring 2 metres by 2.5 metres. There is only one room and she sleeps in the room shared with the kitchen. There is no mattress and she sleeps on a woven mat. There is no electricity.
