On Friday, January 16, 2015 we visited 4 poor families at some villages in Gianyar. The four poor families we visited are as follows:
NI WAYAN TAMBUN & NI MADE SUDRANG
Address: Banjar Sema, Desa Bonbiu, Blahbatuh, Gianyar
These two old women who are sisters are never married. They live only by themselves. They have no other family members. Made Sudrang is suffered from Stroke and her sister, Wayan Tambun, is very old. She is unable to work anymore. Practically, they depend on their neighbors’ help to fulfill their daily needs.

I MADE RETA
Address: Banjar Gua, Desa Bedulu, Blahbatuh, Gianyar
I Made Reta lives by himself. He once was married, but got divorced after awhile. He doesn’t have any children from the marriage. He has no jobs, but he breeds some pigs. Fortunately, he has a nephew who gives him a hand to eat every day.

NI WAYAN BALIK MAS
Address: Banjar Mekuta, Desa Pejeng Kangin, Tampak Siring, Gianyar
Ni Wayan Balik Mas, a woman in the age of 41, has been diagnosed to have a breast cancer since 2 years ago. Fortunately, when we visited her, she had been treated a surgery at Sanglah hospital a month ago due to the favor of some good people who care for her.

PEKAK MINIK
Address: Banjar Taro Kaja, Desa Taro, Tegallalang, Gianyar.
Pekak (grandfather) Minik lives by himself in the middle of the tegalan (field to grow cassava, leaves, etc.) which is located near the entrance of Elephant Safari Park at Taro village. His wife died 25 years ago. To eat, Pekak Minik works as a farmer and breeding some chickens and pigs. Pekak Minik also mekemit (sleeping in the temple) at Pura Dalem Pingit which is located near to his hut. “I am paid Rp. 10.000 for one night, I sleep in the temple 2-4 times in a month” he said in Balinese.
